Inshore Fishing

Tampa Bay is the largest saltwater estuary in Florida, and combined with Sarasota Bay and the waterways that connect it make this one of the largest estuary systems in the world. These inshore waters are home to some of the most exciting fishing found anywhere! There’s incredible diversity in terms of both the locations we’re able to fish and the types and sizes of fish we catch. The area truly is a fisherman’s paradise!

.

Where we fish

We are based out of Cortez and primarily fish the waters around Anna Maria Island, moving well up into Tampa Bay and down to Sarasota Bay depending on where the fish are.

.

What we catch

We primarily target snook, redfish, trout, snapper, flounder and tarpon, but we also frequently catch spanish mackerel, cobia, sharks, jack crevalle, sheepshead and various other inshore types. We generally fish with live bait but will be happy to use artificials if you’re interested in throwing a lure.

.

Best time of year to inshore fish

For most species the bite changes with the different seasons. For example, we catch redfish and trout on a regular basis throughout most of the year, slowing only in the hottest months. The snook and mackerel bite is also great most of the year, however it slows in the coldest months. So if you’re interested in catching a certain type of fish please reach out and we can give you an idea of when would be best to go and how the bite is at that moment.
